Brother Emmanuel
alias Pierre Paul Gaudette

Brother Emmanuel is Chairman of Catholic Welfare Services (CWS) and three of its agencies - St Theresa's Home, Villa Francis Home for the Aged and Marine Parade Family Service Centre.

A religious with the Brothers of St Gabriel, Brother Emmanuel is the supervisor of all the schools of the Brothers of St Gabriel in Singapore. He is also Chairman of Boys' Town Singapore and Vice Chairman of Catholic High School. In addition, he is the Spiritual Director of the Youth Praise Ministry involved in Charismatic Renewal and conducts RCIA classes for St Joseph's Church, St Anthony's Church and the Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Born in Montreal, Canada, Brother Emmanuel came to Singapore in 1954 when he began his teaching career at Holy Innocents School (now Montfort School). He has been involved in Boys' Town for over 30 years and served as its director for 12 years. Under his firm direction and guidance and working hand in hand with the National Council of Social Service and the Ministry of Community Development, Boys' Town has developed into the mature welfare institution it is today.

Brother Emmanuel became a Singapore citizen when Singapore gained independence, and has dedicated himself to his adopted country. His many services to the nation were recognised when he was awarded the Public Service Medal by the Singapore Government. In 1995, he was given the Public Service Star in appreciation of his commitment to the youth of Singapore.

He became a Justice of the Peace in 1989 and is currently Chairman of the Rehabilitative Training Centre, a member of the Criminal Law Association and a member of the Mediation Court.
